African ccTLD Workshop “Building Local Internet Community”

The NTRA hosted a workshop on “Building Local Internet Community” for the ARICEA countries in Cairo in the period from 28 to 30 May 2007.
African Top Level Domains Limited (AFTLD) was established as a non-profit organization in December 2002. AFTLD acts as a focal point for Africa's Country Code Top Level Domains Managers and Sponsoring Organizations. In addition the AFTLD represents the African viewpoints in international forums.

The main objective of the AFTLD workshop is to exchange experiences and viewpoints between different participants as well as coordinate stances of African parties that work on developing and enhancing the internet community infrastructure, which will in turn prop up the efficiency of the Internet services provided in the African countries.

Hosting the workshop in Cairo reflects an Egyptian public interest in all African matters as well as Egyptian keenness on maintaining coordination and cooperation with African countries with the aim of enhancing and developing the African Internet potentials.
