Arab Summer School for Internet Governance

As part of the Egyptian preparations for the IGF fourth meeting scheduled in November 2009 in Sharm el Sheikh, Cairo will be hosting an Arab Summer School for Internet Governance in the period from 28 June 2009 to 1 July 2009.
The Summer School for Internet Governance is a pioneering idea in the area of Internet Affairs awareness. The Summer School is held periodically in several Western capitals. Cairo will be the first Arab and African capital to host this event.
Participants will be introduced to a number of Internet issues such as:

  • History of Internet and the issue of governance
  • Domain management
  • Multilingualism
  • Policies and legislations
  • Internet protocols

The Summer School will be held under the auspices of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) in collaboration with the National Telecom Regulatory Authority and the Nile University, partnering with the Arab World Internet Institute.
