Dr. Amr Badawi, the Executive President of the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) joined the official delegation headed by H.E. Dr. Tarek Kamel, Minister of Communications and Information Technology on his official visit to France. The visit took place in the period from 3 to 7 December 2007 with the aim of participating in the Franco-Egyptian Presidential Business Council (CPAFE) meeting.
The official delegation comprised the Minister of Trade and Industry, and the Minister of Transport and a number of stakeholders in these sectors. The delegation held a number of meetings with the major ICT companies in France and senior officials in Organization for Economic Cooperation & Development (OECD) to study the possible participates of the Egyptian ICT sector in the activities of the (OECD) , As well, the delegation held a meeting with team responsible for the communication and infrastructure services & policies in the (OECD) .
It is worth mentioning that Egypt has unique relations with France , as the ministry of communication and information technology had signed a MoU with the French Ministry of Culture and Communications in September 2003. In addition, President Jacques Chirac had visited the Smart Village and the premises of the MCIT in April 2006.
Within official visit, Dr.Amr headed a delegation from the NTRA who participated in the annual meeting of the European Regulators (ERG), the NATP II meeting, which took place in Rome on 5 December 2007
