The NTRA is honored to organize the third convergence workshop on “Enabling Mobile Multimedia Convergence in MENA” in the period from 2 to 3 April 2008 in Sahl Hashish Bay on the Red Sea. Arab regulatory authorities, private sector representatives in addition to experts and specialists are expected to participate.
The workshop will shed light on the applications of the convergence technology such as the Mobile TV and the Triple Play; those applications that crystallize the convergence between both worlds of ICT and media, which in turn opens news channels for local and international partnership. With the spread of mobile and wireless services, convergence technology is causing a new shift in the area of telecommunications. The workshop will focus on discussing the modern convergence technologies and benefits.
The workshop is marked with an effective coordination and partnership between public and private sectors. A number of youth will also take part in the workshop so as to give them a chance to enjoy a first-hand experience and to listen to the different viewpoints regarding convergence.
This workshop is the third in the series of Convergence workshops organized by the NTRA. The first was “ Regulation in the Era of Convergence”, which was held in March 2007in Sharm el Sheikh and which contributed to a great extent to the formulation of the best concept for addressing convergence technologies.
The second workshop was held in July 2007 under the title of “Convergence Implications on Fields of ICT and Broadcast”, and it was a completion for the discussion that took place in Sharm el Sheikh.
The third workshop will be marked with the possibility to hold individual meetings with companies to listen to their related opinions.
Qualcomm company is expected to host the dinner at the opening day.
