The ITU Council held its meetings in Geneva in the period from 12-24 November 2008. The Council is the ITU authority that is assigned to follow up the activities of the ITU and set its policies. It drafts a report on the public policy of the ITU and its strategic plans.
The meetings tackled a number of vital issues and the latest developments of the ITU. Chief among the issues that will be addressed are:
- The relation between the ICT and climate change
- Cyber security
The ITU council is composed of 46 members elected through the plenipotentiary. The council members represent the 191 member states of the ITU.
Egypt has been a member in the council ever since 1974.
