The Regional Preparatory Meeting for (WTDC-17) for the Arab States (RPM-ARB) will take place in Khartoum, Sudan, at the Al-Salam Rotana Hotel from 30 January 2017 to 1 February 2017, preceded by the Regional Development Forum for the Arab States (RDF-ARB) on 29 January 2017. Both events are being organized by the National Telecommunications Corporation (NTC) of Sudan.
As per the Resolution No. 31 (Rev. Hyderabad, 2010), the Regional Preparatory Meeting (RPM) aims to encourage the participation of member states in the preparations of the World Telecommunication Development Conference 2017 (WTDC-17) in order to achieve regional coordination before the conference. It also seeks to identify issues at the regional level that need to be addressed to foster the development of telecommunications and ICTs, taking into account the most pressing needs faced by the Member States and Sector Members of the region.
It is worth mentioning that the Regional Development Forums is a golden opportunity for high-level cooperation and partnerships between stakeholders and policy makers in ICT sector, enabling the executives and high-level delegations from regulatory authorities, industry, and academic institutions, and regional agencies and international development organizations to hold dialogues, on specific regional issues in the field of telecommunications and information technology and communications.
