NTRA, represented by Eng. Haytham Al Nakhal, Director of Internet Policies Department and Vice Chairman of AFRINIC, participated in 26th Annual Meeting of AFRINIC which was held in the period from 27 May to 3 June 2017 in Nairobi, Kenya.
At the annual meeting, training courses and workshops were held and conducted by international experts in various areas, including training on how to build and manage Internet networks, building and securing domain name servers, and best practices for DNS development. AFRINIC is the entity responsible for managing the digital resources of the Internet in Africa and has been recognized by the ICANN since 2005. NTRA has been participating annually in AFRINIC meetings as Egypt has a seat in AFRINIC Board of Directors as a representative of North Africa region.
The meeting agenda focused on the issues of Internet resources security (IPv6),the means that enable African countries to increase content, in addition to special sessions for African network operators, as well as the meeting of the African Government Working Group (AfGWG) that discussed the latest advancements and updates on Internet governance and enhancement of cooperation on common issues in the field of internet development and deployment in African countries. The new policies proposals for Internet resources were also discussed and the attendees approved the decisions by consensus.
