A Memorandum of Understanding with AASTMT

​​​Within the framework of cooperation between National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) and the Arab Academy for Science Technology & Maritime Transport (AASTMT), a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Eng. Hesham El Alaily's, NTRA’s Executive President and Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar, Academy’s Chairman.  In this Memorandum, both parties agreed to set the terms to facilitate the fruitful cooperation and coordination of efforts between them as part and parcel of NTRA and AASTMT’s support of talented youth and students in the fields of scientific research, training and postgraduate studies, as per NTRA’s vision to consolidate the educational organizations and institutions through their usage of information technology and communications.
It is worth mentioning that pursuant to this MoU, myriad programs and activities in the fields of scientific research and training in the telecom sector will be implemented. In addition, according to this MoU, NTRA will examine graduation projects and researches needed for postgraduate studies in order to determine the extent and level of assistance that should be provided to researches that benefit the telecom sector.

Moreover, this MoU stipulates that NTRA will conduct GMDSS-GOC Licenses examinations, that is, for the award of certificates to the General Operator (GOC) as per the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) to shipmasters and captains, the graduates of the Academy. Furthermore, licenses will be issued to wireless operators to enable them to work on international ships pursuant to the programs and recommendations issued by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), and wireless operators’ licenses will be renewed.
