Egypt IoT Challenge 2017 Program, organized by IEEE Robotics & Automation Society (IEEE RAS), will be launched mid-October in collaboration with Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology and the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) and sponsored by Hadath Global for Innovation and Entrepreneurship with the aim of helping university students in their graduation year, small and medium-sized entrepreneurs and young entrepreneurs by providing them with material resources, expertise and technical advice to implement their innovative and creative ideas. It is worth mentioning that NTRA was the first national entity that sought and called for linking this program to academia and the student community.
Moreover, NTRA supports this Challenge with all financial and moral assistance in order to organize this esteemed event in a way which accelerates the scientific and practical development processes. In addition, a series of seminars and sessions will be held in the Challenge as the main objective is to expedite the establishment of small and emerging startups focusing on IoT applications, smart solutions and University students in their graduation projects that depend on the subject of the event.
The Egypt IoT Challenge program was launched in 2016 by Intel company and Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC) of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) through only one track, that is, the startups. In fact, it attracted more than 1,000 participants from all over the country as more than 300 participants received technical support from the mentor network and ecosystem of organizers, had access to resources related to innovation and technology, and were given the opportunity to network with the top investors in Egypt. The top 6 chosen projects were then selected for acceleration and financial awards to support the development of their products and services. Two (2) of them are currently incubated in a highly-reputed incubator.
Internet of Things (IoT) is the next Internet revolution that will dramatically change the existing industries. Big companies have exert to make more effort and money in developing solutions for their customers which will allow them to advance their skills and abilities, hence they will affect all aspects of life and make a huge leap that will stimulate Egypt's economy that is based on national innovation by setting strategies, facilitating and encouraging creativity and entrepreneurship in IoT and its applications.
