Egypt, represented by the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA), will participate in the meeting of SG 16 of ITU's Standardization Sector during the period from 16 to 27 October 2017 in Macao, China. ITU-T Study Group 16 is competent to issue all recommendations for the coding and signaling of all types of multimedia and terminals. It is also developing recommendations for e-health and Home Networking applications. During the meeting, many sessions and workshops will be held with other global and regional standardization bodies.
It should be noted that SG16 deals with all aspects related to the standardization of multimedia, including protocols, security, mobility, interoperability and quality of service (QoS). It, also, focuses its studies on telepresence and conferencing systems; IPTV; digital signage; speech, audio and visual coding; network signal processing; PSTN modems and interfaces; facsimile terminals; and ICT accessibility.
It is worth mentioning that during the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA) that convened in Jasmine Hammamet, Tunisia, during the period from 25 October to 4 November 2016, NTRA was elected Vice-Chair of SG 16.
