Egypt Proud to Host Telecom Africa 2008

Egypt will be hosting Telecom Africa 2008's Forum and Exhibition, where all Information and Telecommunication sectors in Africa will meet from 12th to 15th of May, 2008.

This special and vital event on all levels was decided to be hosted in Cairo, and announced as such in the press release issued by International Telecommunication Union (ITU) dated 05/07/2008.

Egypt had previously hosted Telecom Africa 2004, which was a unique success in terms of organization and production. This fact alone presents us with an immense challenge and drives us towards further creativity and effort to overcome Africa Telecom 2004's vast success by an even greater one for the coming Africa Telecom 2008.

The ITU press release had exclusively made reference to the deep gratitude expressed by H.E. Dr. Tarek Kamel, Minister of Information and Telecommunications, specifically for the ultimate faith that the ITU had shown towards the Arab Egyptian Republic; 'Hosting “Telecom Africa 2008” is an honor we will carry through with pride, to outdo our previous success in 2004. Egypt welcomes Africa once again and vows to create a congruous milieu that brings together all stakeholders of the industry from all over the world to witness Africa’s progress and potential in ICT. The faith bestowed upon us by the ITU will pay off in what will be one of the most vibrant Telecom events ever held.'

Assigning Egypt to organize Telecom Africa 2008 moreover emphasizes both the regional and international belief in the cosmic success of the Egyptian Telecommunication Sector and its pioneering role in the development and progress of this sector in the black continent as a whole. Accordingly, there is a profound need for unifying endeavors and cooperation within the continent as eminent in the Egyptian belief to the exchange and transfer of expertise contributing to the revitalization of all African telecom sectors.

Telecom Africa is undeniably considered as one of the most important international telecom events, where it provides the chance for all telecom stakeholders to be exposed to the latest technologies in addition to the latest telecom trends.
