The NTRA celebrated on 30/11/2008 the launching of the Twinning Project between the NTRA and the Italian and German counterparts.
The project crystallizes the NTRA vision to make best use of other regulatory experiences and to find the most appropriate means for dialogue and exchange of knowledge regarding ICT policies and technologies.
The objective of the project is to contribute to the growth of the Egyptian telecom market by enhancing telecom service, improving environment of competition and guaranteeing high quality service with affordable prices for all citizens. These results, in turn, are aimed at promoting trade and participation of the Egyptian authorities in the EU market and vice versa, to the benefit of the citizens and free movement of goods and services.
In order to reach this objective, key experts from the European Participating institutions will spend more than 1000 days in Cairo in the next 2 years, will cooperate with NTRA experts and will exchange their experience and know-how related to the seven areas of interest identified by the NTRA and the MS partners: legal approximation, competition and licensing, interconnection and local loop unbundling, management of scarce resources including frequency spectrum and numbering, consumer protection and universal service obligation, organizational development and convergence of media.
The institutional Twinning is an EU initiative aiming at enhancing the institutional potential of the governmental authorities and making best use of the experiences of the European counterparts through exchange of experts.
