The NTRA has awarded Etisalat Misr and Vodafone Egypt a licence to establish and operate access networks in closed compounds. The two licences were signed in the presence of Eng. Mustafa Abd El-Wahed, NTRA’s acting Executive President and Etisalat Misr CEO Eng. Hazem Metwally and Mr. Alexandre Froment-Curtil, CEO of Vodafone Egypt.
The new licence allows operators to provide Triple Play services in closed compounds. Hence, customers will benefit from internet services, Video on Demand, services and surveillance cameras, and many other facilities that are considered premium telecommunications services. In addition, fixed line, mobile, internet and and Value- Added services (VAS) will be provided to customers in a unified package at highest quality through fiber optics, thus allowing companies to establish wireless links to connect urban communities with other communities. The licence also allows the operators to establish and operate the access networks infrastructure and have network infrastructure sharing with other operators.
These services will be provided, taking into consideratiuon the free competition commitments and quality of service standards. The closed compound (urban community) is defined as the community in which the number of units does not exceed 100,000 units.
