The Suez University, in collaboration with the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA), is organizing 6th Edition of the Minesweepers Competition: the First Outdoor Robotic Competition on Humanitarian Demining on 14 October 2017. as the competition is held on the sidelines of this year's celebrations of the glorious October Victory in cooperation with the Suez University and MENARobotics Foundation and sponsored by IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (IEEE RAS Egypt) and with the participation of more than 45 working groups from different Egyptian and Arab universities.
Students, programmers, designers, developers and young researchers will present prototypes and integrated models of some of the challenges facing the world in it dire need of the technology needed to detect explosives and mines. Egypt is ranked second in the world in terms of the number of landmines and explosives in the North Coast and Western Sahara that are considered a main obstacle hindering the development plans prepared by the State to use these vast regions of the country. Then a team of senior Egyptian and foreign professors and experts will then act as an arbitration board as they will evaluate the models and choose the winning ones on the global level.
The competition is attended by a number of domestic and international scientific, research, industrial and other institutions in addition to Egyptian and regional universities and research centers.
