In the context of NTRA's participation in the activities and events of ITU, NTRA attended 2017 IoT Week event that was organized by ITU's Standardization Sector (ITU-T) in the period from 6 to 9 June 2017 in Geneva, Switzerland. This event was a major conference on this significant topic, as it brought together leading experts, innovators and IoT stakeholders. The event is closely related to the works of the relevant SG 20 on IoT and Smart Cities, which has been working on the standardization IoT requirements, and has been developing international standards for IoT.
In fact, NTRA participated in the establishment of SG20 and the determination of its functions during NTRA's participation in the meeting of the ITU-T Advisory Group that was held in June 2015. Dr. Rami Ahmed, Director of NTRA's Digital Services Policies Department, was invited to 2017 IoT Week event in order to conduct a session under the theme, "IoT and Clean Water and Sanitation" on June 6, 2017 as Vice Chairman of SG20.
It should be mentioned in this respect that IoT is one of the most important topics in the field of international telecom aspects, due to its central impact on individuals' life and NTRA experts have special interest in it.
