Within the framework of its keenness to attend and participate in ITU's activities, the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) attended the second meeting of the Arab Working Group in charge of preparations for the Plenipotentiary Conference that was held in the period from 5 to 8 March 2018 in Khartoum, Sudan. The Arab regional preparatory meetings are organized in order to achieve a great regional coordination and to avoid a wide disagreement of viewpoints and positions before the Conference. In addition, these meetings are highly significant as they are a golden opportunity for the participants to discuss and determine issues of interest to the Arab Region and how they should be presented jointly during the Conference. In fact, NTRA submitted 5 working papers at this meeting as a proposal of decisions or modification of decisions on conformity and interoperability, counterfeiting of pseudo-devices, IoT, alternative telecom means and International Telecom Regulations (ITRs).
It is worth mentioning that NTRA participated in the first meeting of the Arab Working Group which was held in Dubai last December. NTRA's experts' team submitted a document on the most pressing issues on the ITU agenda in its various sectors in addition to the resolutions reviewed during the works of the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA-16) and the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC-17) which resulted in the emergence of some of the requirements to be presented to the upcoming Plenipotentiary Conference.
