NTRA's delegation participated in Telecom World Forum and Exhibition 2015, which was held in Budapest (Hungary) in the period from 12 to 15 October, 2015. This Forum is considered one of the most esteemed and significant high-level international forums which brings together all stakeholders, market players, and top officials leading the telecom and information technology industry throughout the world, in addition to the decision-makers and a number of organizations and representatives of governments. In fact, this event provides a myriad of opportunities for coordination, discussion and exchange of views and expertise with regard to ICT sector.
Eng. Christine Arida, the Executive Director of NTRA's Telecom Planning and Services Department participated as a keynote speaker in the Forum's closing session. It was a special session that summarized the most important ideas tackled during the Forum, which revolved around the significance of innovation stimulation in ICT sector in order to enhance the global social and economic growth. In fact, Eng. Arida emphasized the importance and urgent necessity of international cooperation to improve the infrastructure and telecom and information technology services with the aim of achieving the "digital economy" and providing opportunities for local and regional innovation.
It was announced, during the Forum's proceedings, that Egypt will host the next session of the 16th annual Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR) in May 2016 in Sharm El-Sheikh with the participation of more than 700 public figures from various countries around the world representing governments, private sector and international organizations. It is worth mentioning in this respect that this emphasizes Egypt's ability to retrieve its distinctive and effective rank in the esteemed international arenas and preserve its significant role among the member states in the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in technological development and telecommunications. GSR is considered one of the most significant events in the field of communications and information technology as it embraces the executives of the telecom regulatory bodies to exchange viewpoints and expertise, inspiring open dialogues among regulators and stakeholders around the world and the main players in ICT sector.
