The NTRA's Implementation Of the New Mobile Numbering Plan

The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has announced that starting from tomorrow, Thursday 6/10/2011, its plan to increase the length of the current mobile numbers from 10 to 11 digits will be activated and that the mobile services might be affected in the period from 3:00 am to 6:00 am for a period ranging between 30 minutes to 3 hours.

It is worth mentioning that the call will be terminated to the subscriber whether the call is made through the current scheme (10 digits) or the new scheme (11 digits) during a transitional period of not less than four months. In other words, the line will operate during that transitional period with the two numbers (the old and new ones) so that calls will be terminated to it through either of the two schemes. The subscriber will get a voice alert that alerts and warns him that he should add another digit in case he dials the number according to the old scheme without disconnecting the call.
