The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) signed with Vodafone Egypt the 4 G license for the establishment and operation of 4G mobile broadband networks that worth $ 335.5 million. The mobile operator also paid $11.3 million for the operation of a virtual fixed-line service as part of the agreement.
The signing ceremony was attended by HE Eng. Yasser El-Kady, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, NTRA's officials and Vodafone Egypt senior officials and board members at the NTRA's headquarters, inside Smart Village. Accordingly, Vodafone Egypt has total frequencies of 42.5 MHz.
NTRA's Executive President Eng. Mostafa Abdul-Wahid stated that the new licenses will allow Vodafone Egypt to provide 4 G mobile services and the virtual fixed-line services as part of the agreement signed last night, thereby providing remarkable and integrated services to its customers.
It is worth mentioning that the fourth generation technology for mobile services will lead to the increase of Internet speeds, hence ameliorating the quality of the currently provided services and introducing new services. The entry of Vodafone Egypt as a new operator and provider of the virtual fixed-line phone services will boost and enhance free competition, and consequently help in benefiting citizens in terms of quality of services and affordable prices not to mention the provision of revenues to the State's public treasury and creation of new jobs.
The licenses were signed by Eng. Mustafa Abdul Wahid, Acting Executive President of NTRA and Eng. Stefano Gastaut, the company's chief executive officer.
