National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) Introduces New Payment Methods via “Telefoni” App

As part of its initiative to develop the governance system for mobile phone usage in Egypt, the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) announced the addition of new payment methods through the “Telefoni” app, aiming to simplify the registration and payment of mobile device (IMEI) fees and enhance the user experience, supporting the efficiency of the digital ecosystem and aligning with the country’s digital transformation goals.

New Available Payment Methods:

  • Bank cards from all banks.

  • Direct payment via selected bank branches: National Bank of Egypt, United Bank, Arab Real Estate Bank, and Export Development Bank of Egypt.

  • “Khadamaty” network: a collection network equipped with electronic payment machines at numerous outlets and merchants across governorates.

  • Mobile wallets provided by telecom operators.

  • “Meeza” card as a flexible and secure payment option.

How to Use the “Telefoni” App to Pay Device Fees:

  1. Open the app and select “Pay Device Fee”.

  2. Enter the IMEI number of the device to be registered.

  3. Choose the preferred payment method:

    • Instant payment via bank card, mobile wallet, or “Meeza” card.

    • Pay later option to receive a payment code, which can be used at bank branches or approved outlets within the “Khadamaty” network.

The NTRA emphasizes that bank cards remain a primary payment method, while expanding other available payment options to meet all users’ needs.

This update is part of the NTRA’s ongoing efforts to simplify procedures, provide advanced digital services, and support the safe and fair use of mobile devices within the Egyptian market.
