NTRA Participates in the Global Internet Governance Forum in Norway from 23–27 June 2025
 2 July 2025

The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) participated in the Global Internet Governance Forum (IGF 2025), held in Lillestrøm, Norway, from 23 to 27 June 2025. The forum brought together high-level experts and policymakers from around the world to discuss pressing issues in internet governance, digital cooperation, and sustainable digital development. This participation aligns with the ongoing UN review process of the World Summit on the Information Society outcomes (WSIS+20), which will conclude at the end of this year during the UN General Assembly.

The Egyptian delegation highlighted Egypt’s vision for enhancing the forum’s work and ensuring inclusive stakeholder engagement, showcasing national efforts in internet infrastructure development, data protection, AI governance, and comprehensive sustainable digital transformation. The NTRA’s participation also reflects its commitment to supporting regional African and Arab initiatives and ensuring national and regional priorities are represented in international platforms, particularly regarding AI challenges, digital transformation, cybersecurity, and bridging the digital divide. This year, the forum also included a parliamentary track and a judicial track, attended by representatives from the Egyptian House of Representatives and the Deputy Chief Justice of the Court of Cassation.

In this context, H.E. Ambassador Gamal Metwally, Egypt’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Norway, welcomed the Egyptian delegation, praising the NTRA’s role in representing Egypt internationally and affirming the embassy’s support for Egypt’s active participation in multilateral platforms, which contributes to highlighting national achievements and building strategic partnerships that support digital transformation and capacity development.
