 27 May 2025

In line with its commitment to enhancing the quality of telecommunications services provided to users, the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA), through the National Center for Telecom Service Quality Monitoring, issued the Q1 2025 Mobile Network Quality of Service Report (covering January to March 2025). The measurement methodology is based on testing samples of voice calls and data services to evaluate the quality of services provided by operators in the Egyptian market, using specialized equipment and measurement vehicles. The total measurement distance covered 139,000 km on main and secondary roads across cities and villages during Q1 2025.

NTRA Initiatives to Improve Service Quality

  1. National IPv6 Transition Strategy
Egypt launched a comprehensive national strategy for transitioning to IPv6, providing a roadmap to enable the country’s digital infrastructure to support technological advancements, sustain internet services, and accommodate the growth of 5G and IoT applications. The strategy spans three phases (two years each), aiming for full IPv6 adoption by 2030.

  2. Expansion of Monthly Field Measurements
From April 2025, monthly measurements will cover 128 geographic areas (up from 114), including over 1,500 km of strategic roads and intergovernorate links, to enhance monitoring of service quality.

  3. Approval of New Coverage Sites
NTRA approved 685 new coverage sites in Q1 2025, contributing to expanded network coverage and improved quality of service indicators across the Egyptian market.

This report reflects NTRA’s continued efforts to monitor, regulate, and enhance the quality of telecommunications services for all users in Egypt.
