Containment of Ramses Exchange Fire and Gradual Restoration of Services
 7 July 2025

The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) is closely monitoring the temporary disruption in telecom services caused by the fire at Ramses Exchange of Telecom Egypt.

The Authority confirms that the fire has been brought under control and cooling operations are ongoing. All fixed internet traffic has been rerouted to the Roada Exchange traffic center.

Due to the disruption of certain network circuits caused by the fire, fixed internet and mobile services (voice/data) were partially affected across the three mobile operators. Coordination is underway between Telecom Egypt’s technical teams and mobile operators to restore the affected circuits and reroute them through other exchanges, with full restoration expected within the next 24 hours.

The NTRA assures that all emergency services remain fully operational, and the impact on general services is limited. Alternative contact numbers have been provided for affected areas.

A minor disruption was observed in landline and mobile services around the Ramses Exchange area, and services are being gradually restored. NTRA will continue issuing updates as the situation evolves.

The Authority apologizes for any inconvenience caused and confirms that affected customers will be compensated in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
