The first official auction for distinguished short numbers, organized by NTRA, witnessed wide participation and strong interest from more than 30 companies and corporations among the leading entities operating in Egypt’s market. The auction resulted in allocating a number of distinguished numbers, including 999, 777, 225, and 777000, at competitive values that reflect their marketing importance and their ability to enhance access to various services. The auction was held through a structured as well as transparent electronic auctioning mechanism via NTRA’s official electronic platform ‘Auctions’.

This comes in line with NTRA’s commitment to applying best regulatory practices in managing the resource of “Numbering”, ensuring their optimal use to meet the needs of the market and corporations. It is also part of NTRA’s ongoing efforts to enhance communication efficiency and the quality of services provided, and to consolidate Egypt’s position as a regional and global hub for call center services. Moreover, the strong turnout of companies at the auction reflects the business and financial community’s confidence in the regulatory mechanisms adopted by NTRA for managing digital resources, in a way that ensures transparency and fair competition.

It is worth noting that NTRA had launched ‘Auctions’, as the first electronic platform of its kind in Egypt’s market, aimed at offering distinguished short contact numbers for customer service centers through auctions. The platform provides small companies with the opportunity to compete for a selection of distinguished short numbers consisting of three and six digits, thereby supporting the development of call centers and customer service for these companies, contributing to enhanced communication efficiency, and strengthening the corporate image of businesses across various sectors.
