Having sworn in before President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology Raafat Hendy outlined the key priorities of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) for the upcoming phase. The ICT Minister emphasized that these priorities include expanding the availability of digital services, improving their quality to facilitate citizens’ access, and reinforcing the ICT sector’s role in supporting the transition toward a fully integrated digital economy.

Hendy explained that MCIT will continue implementing nationwide digital infrastructure development projects to boost the efficiency of telecommunications and Internet services, serving as a fundamental pillar for building a digital society and driving economic growth. He underlined ongoing efforts to implement projects under the Decent Life presidential initiative, enabling citizens in villages to access digital services.

Hendy pointed out that the Ministry will also advance digital transformation projects and develop information infrastructure in coordination with various state institutions. He added that these efforts aim to enhance the efficiency of government performance by adopting advanced technologies, developing digital skills, and promoting entrepreneurship, thereby achieving the state’s priorities in developing the capabilities of Egyptian citizens.

The ICT Minister underscored that increasing digital exports and fostering an investment-friendly business environment represent a key pillar of MCIT’s strategy. He highlighted that this approach supports the expansion of offshoring centers, opens prospects for developing the electronics industry, attracts additional investments in local manufacturing, and strengthens the government’s efforts to transition from a traditional economy to a digital economy.
