The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has instructed the mobile companies to provide a free-of-charge consumption for some mobile apps that are exclusively designed for disability challengers, by the beginning of Ramadan Holy Month, given the major role played by (NTRA) in ensuring the accessibility of telecommunication services to all users. Such instructions aim to provide easy telecom and internet access for disability challengers, being part and parcel of the Egyptian Community.

NTRA’s initiative also aims to provide a free-of-charge consumption for a collection of apps which are exclusively designed for visual and hearing impairment challengers, and would help with facilitating their different life aspects. Consumption rate will not be deducted from the mobile companies’ contracted internet packages. In this frame, NTRA has instructed all telecom companies to provide further apps and services for users of disability challengers.

It’s worth noting that such apps offer a variety of features like object recognition, currency recognition, e-reader, as well as spontaneous chatting with seeing volunteers via video conversations. Moreover, the apps for visual impairment challengers are mainly: Be My Eyes, TapTapSee, as well as CASH READER which are compatible with different mobile phone operating systems. Meanwhile, Wasel app, mainly responsible for inquiries on public utilities and emergency services in sign language via video conference, has been actually provided for hearing impairment challengers without any charges.
