The Arab Organization for Communication and Information Technologies, in cooperation with Mercury Communications, honored the Cybersecurity Division of the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) in recognition of its efforts to strengthen the cybersecurity ecosystem in Egypt, and for leading the 5th edition of the Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) issued by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

During the CAISEC 2025 conference, Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, presented the Arab Excellence Shield to Eng. Walid Zakaria, Deputy Chairman of the NTRA for Cybersecurity Affairs.

This honor comes as a culmination of Egypt’s top ranking in the 5th edition of the Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) issued by the ITU, where Egypt achieved a perfect score of 100 points and was included among 47 countries in the first category, which represents nations considered as role models. This achievement also reflects Egypt’s advancement in the global cybersecurity index ranking.
