The National Council for Women and the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Egypt (NTRA) signed a cooperation protocol to reinforce the services provided to women and uphold their role in the ICT field. This comes within the framework of Egypt’s Vision 2030, which includes empowering women and integrating them into inclusive development and digital transformation plans.
The protocol was signed by Counselor/ Amal Ammar, Head of the National Council for Women, and Engineer/ Mohamed Shamroukh, NTRA’s Executive President. Counselor/ Amal Ammar emphasized that the protocol reflects the Council’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with various state institutions, supporting efforts to empower Egyptian women, particularly in the ICT field, which represents one of the main pillars for achieving sustainable economic empowerment. She pointed out that cooperation with NTRA will contribute to providing real training and qualification opportunities for women and girls, developing their digital skills and reinforcing their participation in labor market, in line with the requirements of digital transformation and Egypt’s national vision for development.
For his part, Engineer/ Mohamed Shamroukh, NTRA’s Executive President, affirmed that this cooperation reflects NTRA’s commitment to adopting the policies of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) aimed at bridging the digital gender gap and encouraging women’s leadership in the ICT field. He added that empowering women technologically is not merely a social goal, but a fundamental pillar for achieving the desired digital transformation, as the protocol will contribute to establishing an inclusive digital environment that provides Egyptian women with all the necessary tools for innovation and effective participation in labor market.
The protocol aims to exchange expertise and coordinate efforts to ensure women’s access to digital services, launch joint training programs in the fields of cybersecurity and technological entrepreneurship, and promote digital literacy to ensure using technology safely and responsibly among women and girls.
