Dr. Amr Talaat, ICT Minister, Inaugurates NTRA’s Center for ICT Services Quality Control & Monitoring

Within the framework of the Government’s keenness to enhance the quality of services provided to citizens and guarantee citizens’ rights to access high-level telecom and internet services, H.E. Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, has inaugurated today the NTRA’s National Center for ICT Services Quality Control and Monitoring at NTRA’s headquarters, in Smart Village. The inauguration has been attended by Eng. Mostafa Abdel Wahed, NTRA’s Acting Executive President, and the CEOs of the telecom operators and companies operating in Egypt.

The main objective of establishing the National Center for ICT Services Quality Control and Monitoring is to periodically measure the quality of voice and Internet services provided by service providers and telecom companies operating in Egypt. Furthermore, it aims to achieve and ensure transparency, as monthly reports will be published on the NTRA’s website to inform citizens of the quality of ICT services provided, hence helps them choose  the most distinguished networks to deal with.

Dr. Amr Talaat has stated that the Center’s investments amount to 50 million Egyptian pounds as the first Quality of Service (QoS) report will be issued at the beginning of next September. Eng. Mustafa Abdel Wahid, NTRA’s Acting Executive President, has highlighted that that the Center’s establishment seeks to keep pace with the new advancements and international standards for measuring the quality of telecom services, enhance the international ranking of Egypt in the global arena, especially in the international telecom market. 

It should be noted that the NTRA has entered into a contract with ROHDE & SCHWARZ Company, one of the largest German companies in service quality measurement in the world, and an active member of international organizations specialized in this field. The Company endeavours to transfer expertise and know-how to NTRA’s experts and engineers to deal with the most advanced and sophisticated equipment to test the services, given that NTRA has high-caliber experts and competencies in this field. The NTRA also developed and installed the state-of-the-art and best service quality measurement equipment, operation systems and devices to issue reports and complete measurements and results with the mention of any reasons for any violations observed
