Dr. El-Sayed Azzouz Elected Vice Chairperson of ITU’s Radio Regulations Board-RRB during 2021

Dr. El-Sayed Azzouz (Vice President of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) for Infrastructure Technology) has been elected Vice Chairperson of the International Telecommunication Union’s (ITU) Radio Regulations Board (RRB) during 2021. He will assume the Chairperson position of the Radio Regulations Board during 2022. RRB is one of the most prestigious bodies of ITU as it comprises of 12 experts from all over the world. Its members are elected at the Plenipotentiary Conference from the 193 member states of the ITU.

It is worth mentioning that the ITU’s RRB has several mandates. It approves the Rules of Procedure, used by the Radiocommunication Bureau in applying the provisions of the Radio Regulations and registering frequency assignments made by the member states. It also addresses matters referred by the Bureau which cannot be resolved through application of the Radio Regulations the and Rules of Procedure. Moreover, the RRB considers reports of unresolved interference investigations carried out by the Bureau at the request of one or more administrations and formulates Recommendations. Furthermore, it provides advice to the Radiocommunication Conferences and Radiocommunication Assemblies, and considers appeals against decisions made by the Radiocommunication Bureau regarding frequency assignments;
