NTRA meets ISO requirements for the second time in a row
 27 November 2022

The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Egypt (NTRA) met the requirements for implementing the standards of ISO 9001:2015-Certification of Organizational Quality Management System, in regulating telecom services in Egypt’s market, for the second consecutive year. The checking process was created by JAS-ANZ, one of the largest accreditation bodies, and the measures taken by NTRA was approved by the awarding entity, “MDY for Management Services and Training”, through its representative. It’s worth noting that NTRA had previously obtained the ISO Certification in last December, while this step comes in line with NTRA’s efforts to implement the international standards in quality systems, digital transformation and organizational approaches to govern the telecom services provided by the licensed operators in Egypt’s market. It would also contribute to reinforcing investments within a fair as well as an attractive competitive environment in accordance with the international standards set forth, and would improve telecom service-governance for users.

In this regard, NTRA’s interactive app “My NTRA” was chosen among the top 5 E-Government projects worldwide within the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) held in May 2022, obtaining the highest votes out of 966 projects overall. Moreover, NTRA advanced 54 positions to occupy the 41st ranking among 193 regulators on the 2020 ITU-ICT Regulatory Tracker, compared to the 95th ranking in 2019. NTRA also moved up 43 positions on the international rankings of The Global System for Mobile Communications Association’s (GSMA) Mobile Money Index of 2020, to become the 36th among 90 regulators adopting this kind of services worldwide, whereas it was ranked number 79 in 2019.
