Mobile SIM Cards Sales Regulations for Individuals
  1. Mobile SIM Cards sales regulations for Egyptians:
    Egyptian customers must follow the following steps when purchasing a new mobile SIM card:
    • The customer should visit any of the mobile operator branches to provide his original valid national identity card to the operator’s sales agent.
    • The sales agent must keep a colored copy of the customer’s national ID.
    • The customer must be present in person to sign the original contract and receive his copy of the contract.
    • The Egyptian customer has the right to purchase a maximum of 10 voice lines and 5 data lines registered using his National ID number for each mobile operator.
  2. Mobile SIM Cards sales Regulations for Foreigners (Non-Egyptians):
    A foreign customer must follow the following steps when purchasing a new mobile SIM card:
    • The customer should visit any of the mobile operator branches to provide his own original valid passport and residency document to the operator’s sales agent, the sales agent in turn checks the documents and make sure the residency period mentioned in the residency document is still valid.
    • The sales agent must keep a colored copy of the customer’s passport and document of residency.
    • The Mobile operator must link the validity period of the SIM Card to the period of residency of the foreign customer inside Egypt, as the SIM card will be disconnected after one month of the end of the residency period if the customer did not provide a new extended residency document.
    • The customer must be present in person to sign the original contract and receive his copy of the contract.
    • The Foreigner customer has the right to purchase a maximum of 5 voice lines and 5 data lines registered using his original valid Passport from each mobile operator.
  3. SIM Swap Regulations:
    • The customer must provide his original valid National ID for Egyptians or passport for foreigners to the mobile operator’s shop agent.
    • The shop agent must keep a colored copy of the customer’s identity document.
    • SIM Swap process does not take place before checking that the customer’s ID or passport is matching with the data registered on the mobile operator database for the same SIM card.
    • The customer should fill and sign a SIM swap request form at the Operator’s point of sale before receiving the service.
