Dr. Fadel Digham is currently the Chairman of the Study Group 2 on “Digital Transformation” at the Development sector of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU-D).
He is the recipient of the 2021 IEEE Communication Society Award for Advances in Communications (best research paper with highest impact over past 15 years).
He is currently the Sector Head of Technical Office (and previously heading National Projects Sector and R&D Department) at the National Telecom Regulator Authority (NTRA) of Egypt.
He was the Rapporteur of the “Smart cities and societies” question under Study Group 2 at ITU-D, and was Co-Chairman of the joint group between ITU-D and ITU-R on “spectrum management for developing countries”.
He has been participating in the planning and development of the smart cities in Egypt, and the issuance of codes for networks design and implementation and provision of smart services.
He also served as a member of the Industry Advisory Board for the IEEE Wireless Communications Engineering Technology (WCET) certificate program.
He worked for Alcatel Telecom (Egypt branch), Mitsubishi Electric Research Labs (USA), and the University of Minnesota (USA).
He got his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, USA, and his B.Sc. from Cairo University, Egypt.
